For at least three weeks, I have been working on a documentary on our multimedia project Careers of Technology. Since I have filmed and made sure to make an outline for my film. I will be introducing my own rubric, on how I view my success on this documentary. The first checklist I need to make sure is that my documentary show the diversity of students exploring their careers. I want to know how the students relates their career to their personal objective in life, and do they see themselves being in this career in their future. The second checklist is that my B roll relates to what the person is wanting to present, and making sure that the footage is shot well and establish that the student has taken the project seriously and given their best work. The third checklist is to make sure that the film transitions the majority of the time smoothly, and make sure it does not constantly stop or twitch in Final Cut Pro. However, I will probably as a movie in Quicktime and present like that. The fourth checklist will probably be my monologue in the beginning. I want to make sure it is short and gives a brief introduction of our project. While also presenting of different careers online, and how they are constantly changing the work place and society. Hopefully, I will be able to score above proficiently, and have a nice short documentary giving parents an overview of students career work and how this project is helping the student find their certain career option 9/18/15 Alan Henry, a journalist from lifehacker wrote a short article called Microsoft Hyper-Lapse Builds Time-Lapse Highlight Reels From Long Shot. Henry discusses that Android smart phones have a new app created by Windows called Microsoft Hyper lapse. Microsoft Hyper lapse enables users to shoot a ton of videos, and edit from android phone and create a short time lapse video. Henry mentions that Microsoft created the app, to help professional video editors or enthusiasts, to create action packed segments for long movies. Henry also stated that Instagram unveils their own hyper lapse video to the public last year. However, he mentions Microsoft was the first to coin the term hyper lapse. Henry wanted to introduce and get an overview of the new product. His article is short and informative, and he wants Android users and filmmakers to know about the product. Overall, Henry gives a good overview of how the product is used, and why Microsoft made this project. He wanted Android filmmakers to know that Microsoft wants to help better it's products and use better software to help filmmakers to make visual appealing movies. I decided to interview at least 5 people on their careers, and made a list of questions for them to answer. Also I will eventually make questions for Rosskopf on why he decided to do this project. I want these documentary to focus on the possible career choices for technology, and hopefully convince parents and younger generation that technology and the internet and constantly helping careers in different fields to succeed. I want them to understand that there are so many possibilities, and maybe try to inspire to go out there and make their own products, musics, photos. movie and etc. for the world to see. I will be using a life hacker article The Basics of Video Editing, because I find it a useful guide on how to use Final Cut Pro. I understand most of the basics from Final Cut, but I think these series of tutorials will help answer some questions I have with Final Cut. Also this lesson can give some context with Adobe Premier, which could compare and contrast what video editing software does better in their own program. Hopefully, this article will give me some good overviews on the basics on both Adobe and Final Cut, and I will learn how to use both of the products. Here is the video link on the introduction, it gives you an overview of what the tutorial will go in depth to in Final Cut and Adobe. Instead, we will be doing our own seperate individual project. The Dungeon of the sock puppets from hell is canceled and we will no longer be doing it I will try to upload an educational video for the Open Source High September video contest and also try to upload a video to open ted. My educational video would be either on the mongols or try to introduce what is and how to solve the quadratic equations. I have not decided for right now, but I plan on writing a script over the weekend and start storyboarding my video. Eventually, I will be able to make a great educational video on my topic. Hopefully, this does not go badly. I only have at least five more weeks. I plan on giving my best work. 9/8/15 My partners Owen, Carson and I presented our short teaser to the class called Dungeon of the Sock Puppets from Hell. The film starts with our protagoinist playing on the phone. He hears laughter and gets up to check the door he was sitting next to. The door slams, scaring our young protagonist causing him to runaway. We see the protagonist frightened and running that his life depends on it. He rans into a locked door, where the protagonist starts to give up. The camera zooms into the door showing the title screen. We do not have audio for right now we plan on adding sound effects and giving the video a better video quality. 9/2/15 My partners Owen, Carson and I decided to present a short teaser of our new horror film to the class. This teaser will showcase our protagonist trying to run from this unknown creature. We plan on taking our film footage, edit it and add effects to add a scary tension that hopefully will get the class pumped up for our film. 8/31/15 Tutorials Today I used this site called Digital FAQ on How to Edit with Adobe Premier. Here is the link http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/video/edit-premiere-basics.htm. I learn the different functions of Adobe Premier, there is the History, Applied Effects, Effects Menu, Preview, Timeline and Source. History is where you can keep in track of the processes of your edit, you can change or remove certain effects from your history. The preview is the clip you are currently editing, you can watch and alter the clips as you edit. The source is where you can find your clips and drag it to your timeline. The timeline is where you store you audio and clips, you can also organize them in a specific order. Effect Menu is where you can keep you audio and get your video effects. The applied effects is the effects you have at hand. This is one of the things I have so far learned in the site. I also know of the cut feature, but other than that for right now I am still learning. Review The site was very organized describing the basics to the advanced settings. Not to mention having a visual image representations of the different effects, helped me as a reader identify the certain effects and show how to use them. I found the picture of the window very helpful, seeing where I can get the effects and where the timeline is was incredibly useful. Other than the organization and the visual representation, I had the problem with the way the description were set up. For example, when describing how to do a certain effect. I got the feeling that it was rushed, and it was too much. I felt that I mostly scan over most of the article, because there was too much text with out content. I felt the blogger should have kept it in different steps, which could help the reader read through and understand the process easily. Instead of reading a long paragraph on how to do a certain technique. I give this site a 7 out of 10, it was organized and had pictures to illustrate what the author was describing. Yet, the long paragraphs on how to do a certain technique was not the best way to represent how to do that technique. Overall, I found this tutorial good and there are slight adjustments the blogger could take to improve this tutorial. 8/28/15 I want to be a video editor, because I want to learn how to edit my films proffessionally. Being able to understands basics of editing will help me as a filmmaker understand how to portray a theme to a movie. Editing can help set the mode for the audience to be scared, excited, sad or anything. Editing can add music, which helps the mood getting the audience to get a field to what the filmmaker wanted to portray in the film. Also I would like to understand the basic, so I can further master and push myself to learn more advanced techniques. These techniques will help me be able to give better video visuals, while learning to add unique scenes that intrigue audiences to my video. I would also like to add stable transistions making the jumps seem consistant throughout the video. Not to mention it will impress the viewer on how I was able to edit the video proffessinally and extradionary. One last thought about me wanted to become an editor, would be taking my footage into something I want to portray as a idea that will hopefully spread to influence myself to push for the better. That is all for today, thank you for reading this first blog post.
